Harry Potter 5 (Order of the Pheonix) Educational Views?

Well before I go see the movie I must read the 5th Harry Potter book. I do not know if you read it, but I can definitely say that you can use it as did you the Lord of the Rings. The mains story is that Hogwarts is being examined, or what I see as their own accreditation, by the Ministry of Magic which is basically the government of the magical world. The Ministry of Magic has assigned a teacher to Defense Against Dark Arts class. The teacher believes that the students should just study and have no need to actually practice their magic because her theory is that as long as you study what the books say the students will do good on their OWL's (SAT's). The conflict is that Dumbledore believes that the school is run just fine, and that he will force students to take their OWL because it is often looked upon after they graduate, but he feels that they do not show how well educated they are. Another thing I found interesting is that Snape presents the idea that as long as they do well in the class and are educated, the students do not have to worry about failing because their OWL is not a measure of education, as it is a test for the Ministry of Magic to force some of their ideas and methods. The other interesting thing I noticed is that Snape just fails the students when they mess up, but tells them that maybe they will learn from their mistakes and do better next time, or that they will follow directions better because they experienced for themselves that there must be some order and that the students can choose to do things out of order, but may not produce excellence. The last thing I noticed is that the teacher from the Ministry of Magic has Harry do the same thing over and over for every detention, but even after a couple of weeks in detention he does not learn from his mistakes in any way, and continues to get himself into trouble. If you want to just do a short reading I believe that you can just read chapter 12, 13, and 14 and get a whole presentation. I have never noticed anything like this in any of the other books. I might go back later and read the book over again to see if I catch anything else like this. I really would not have made any notice to this before last year. I find that really taking a look at these ideas helps show the idea that Rowling was trying to show. Do you think that this is why some schools say that it is witchcraft, it is a big jump, but I wonder if that is any part of why some publics schools do not allow the students to read these books for projects.

One more thing, I just noticed that one of the teachers said the Ministry of Magic does not teaches the students actual magic because they do not want them or Dumbledore to from their own army because they will spread what is said to be false ideas, and because they know that if the students will be to powerful. I find it interesting because the Ministry of Magic is preventing the students from speaking the truth. It is especially interesting because the teacher from the Ministry of Magic has Harry write "I must not tell lies" referencing to the truth that Harry told and got in trouble when the teacher tries to cover up the truth to keep people from asking questions.
