Yesterday on Saturday January 28, 2006, the Getty Museum opened the new Getty Villa. It has been eight years since the renovation started. But yesterday the public was able to return to it; the admission is free, but the wait time for tickets is about two months. The 275 million dollars that went to this renovation brought a new face lift to allow many of the Greek and Roman's framed collections to call the Getty home. The Getty Villa has 64 acres that are dedicated to the study of Ancient Rome, Etruria, and Ancient Greece. The J. Paul Getty Museum was originally opened in 1997 with a 110 acre campus. During the first six months it attracted one million visitors.
