McCain Rationality

McCain has some interesting things to do, but some of them are just not that logical, nor are they very well supported by any evidence.

Economics:
Strength
Stop wasting money on private projects or other special interest type f spending. Allow for research but do set a budget and make it so spending has to be pre approved so we don't get as much stupid spending.

Energy
Strength:
The best idea right now is to think outside of the box and to invest not just in more efficient technology, but also find alternate resources that we can use. McCain has a good strategy by doing this. Deciding to actually drill in Alaska is a good idea, especially considering that his running mate is very familiar with energy alternatives and Alaska. This will give the message to foreign oil companies that we are not completely dependent on them as a resource. Another example of this is the issue on batteries and nuclear energy. Improving batteries would be a great thing considering the path we have taken in the auto industry. Batteries are not the most eco-friendly thing, but we still need and use them as we do food and water. Nuclear energy is incredible efficient, and will pay for itself usually after 15 years; so not only will we be very self dependent, but we will also be able to reduce green house gasses as nuclear plants primarily use fission to extract the energy from the atomic nuclei. On the other hand, more simple things like wind, hydro, and solar power will provide somewhat immediate cost changes for houses and other smaller end companies.

Weakness:
Many people are still against nuclear energy due to Cherynoble and other incidents. We do need many more nuclear plants to be built in the United States but I think that it is going to be hard to get this passed. In any way it may or may not be better to have the potential danger of a nuclear reactor somehow harming the nation rather than not take the chance on this and use up all of our other resources.

Homeland Security:
Weakness:
"John McCain has opposed "waiting periods" for law abiding purchase of firearms." This is a terrible thing to do especially without any given reason or explanation.

Health Care
Strength:
WIthout a doubt I think that Veterans should always have some extra help with health care, but only receive the extra help or money if they were injured and are no longer able to work. Providing more insurance for those who are not employed, or making it easier to find insurance other than that offered by your work is a good idea but...
Weakness:
Sending money in the form of tax rebates to ensure that everybody can afford health care or some type of independent insurance is a bad idea. Most likely the money is not going to be spent on health care unless it is better distributed or directed. McCain has a terrible argument when he thinks that giving money for healthcare in this way is smart. McCain needs to look at what is happening with many child care and welfare checks.

War
Strength:
MCCain has been a War Hawk and has evidence to prove that the surge was successful. The fact that the precious strategy has worked very well does give strength to the idea that we should continue to fight outside of our country before the enemies come into the United States and cause harm to those who are not directly involved in the battle.

Education
Stength:
Expanding or rebuilding civic services is a good idea. A better idea is to get veterans to help educate or mentor people about the war. Whoever thought of that idea had some pretty reasonable thinking. There is no evidence that there has been any real improvement in education. The only improvement I have seen personally is in higher education as far as stepping away form the SAT Part I Standardized Test.

Weakness:
McCain speaks of how we have had a great success using the whole, "No Child Left Behind", if one person is slow lets make everybody slow idea. He does not explain how it has helped any more than saying ti wass a success and now they know what children have trouble learning. This is a terrible argument as first of all every person is going to struggle with something different, even if there is a common topic most students struggle on, it does not mean that everybody else will as well.

Space Exploration
Strength:
Ensure that aerospace research is a top priority, we don't want to be the country to present a "MacBook Air Mini" while Russia forms the first civilization on the moon. McCain did a nice job in writing or thinking out this strategy. The best way to ensure we are able to even go to space is to make sure we have a shuttle to do so, even during the current transition period.
