New "Ethical" Stem Cell Research

First of all lets define stem cell research. Some say that stem cell research is "ethical" -NOT- or moral -???- because the cells can reproduce as long as the host cell is present. In a way, stem cell research is almost the equivalent of cutting pieces off of a plant or tree and replanting them somewhere else where the are needed. In this way assuming that the tree is the human embryo, and the pieces that are being cut are the stem cells. In the human case, the embryo can not live once it has been cut trimmed and replanted. Next, the main organism that is hosting the cells (unborn, un-grown, and soon to take the shape of one-baby) is destroyed and only the "necessary" parts are taken. Some people agree that it is ethical to destroy an organism for their parts as the parts are necessary for other uses such as to help cure disease, or save another persons life in any way. During this process some therapeutic cloning is involved.

The "ethical stem cell research" (taking out the totipotent stem cells) is not any better than regular stem cell research. Why? Because this method involves taking out the totipotent (meaning in itself to create) stem cells; which are the cells that can produce the embryo. In a way it is like cutting down the whole tree, and all of the fruit that it may possibly bear in its future; along with this not only cutting out the tree but cutting out the roots and taking, and destroying all of the seeds that can produce life.

In a way this kind of goes back to the idea of abortion because of the fact that it is legal to now abort a baby while it is already a baby. Our issue in both cases is determining when one has the right to kill. Should one kill to relieve another from pain or future problems? But what person can guarantee that there are or are not going to be problems?
