Elections

As we near near the end of out Presidents second term with just a little under two years, we must always remember one thing about all presidents:

Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying.

- Ronald Reagan

Many people wonder about who the next President will be, and what they will be like. Other questions that arise are questions about which side the United States will be on. The fact is that Thomas Jefferson stated one of the most important things that should be remembered. Many people tend to forget about what the job of the President is, and what the idea of an election is. Elections are not meant to be a huge political war over which side is correct, but it should be something that is looked at as the opportunity to elect someone who is best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of a President. Alone with that, the President should be someone who is not worried about making sure he follows the rules of Democracy, or Republican order. Instead the President should be concerned about being a good leader who is doing what needs to be done, and doing it in the right manor. Besides that, the President is ultimately what makes his or her party what it is; they give definition to their party, they are what shapes the people of their party. It really seems that the idea of having separate politically parties has lost its meaning. Political parties should be used to help categorize and organize those who are to be elected as an official.

Ronald Regan was really able to capture the idea of how one should be elected. He was able to get past the idea of his own selfishness to stick with one party because of their name, and at the same time, by doing this he was able to look at what the objective was, and realize that as long as an official is doing what they are supposed to do their age is not as important. Along with that, we must not let our selfishness overcome us and make us people who play by favorites instead of those who look at the who picture, and weather good or bad, look at its consequences.

Left or Right
In both, the House of Representatives and the Senate, the Democrats always sit on the left, and the Republicans always sit on the right side of the room. Hence the terminology of one being on the left, or the right.
